Camera Phone Modules Shrinking
Even with the improved resolution of the current generation of digital cameras embedded into cell phones over the previous generation, the actual size of the digital camera being put into cell phones is shrinking.
Mobile Mag with the details:
Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) has developed a 2.0 megapixel camera module that measures an extremely small 8.8 x 8.5 x 6.9 mm. Furthermore it also has developed a 1.3 megapixel camera module that measures 7.4 x 7.4 x 5.0 mm. By manufacturing and designing them in an innovative manner, the two Samsung creations are 35% smaller than any existing camera modules currently being used.
I am surprised though with the new smaller designs that we are not seeing more web cams built into laptops and other portable devices.
