Multilingual phones Galore

PhoneMag has a report on the advancement of multilingual capabilities in the cell phone world.

In upcoming cellphone markets like India where numerous languages are spoken, cellphone manufacturers like Nokia and Samsung are offering multilingual capabilities for their cellphone offerings to achieve higher penetration PhoneMag Image

The multilingual support being provided not only includes text entry, but also advanced features like a multi-language dictionary to support easy and intuitive SMS, as well as predictive text entry for local languages

According to the article in Cyber India Online:
“All entry and mid-range phones from Nokia support Hindi. Nokia 1600 and 1110 support five-language user interface (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil and Bengali), while Nokia 6030 supports nine-language user interface (Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Punjabi). With this, we cover about 80 percent of the Indian population.”
