Sprint Launches EV-DO Network

Mobile Burn has some information on the new EV-DO network that Sprint is setting up.

Sprint has officially launched its new EV-DO high-speed network, known as Power Vision. The network delivers a peak download rate of 2 megabits per second, but should see average rates of between 400 and 700 kilobits per second.

Sprint Power Vision has been launched with two new services for subscribers, the Sprint Music Store and Sprint TV. The music store, powered my Groove Mobile, offers more than 250,000 songs from labels such as EMI, BMG, Warner Music, and Universal. The Sprint Music Store sells tracks for $2.50USD, and allows two copies to be downloaded - one directly to the handset and a higher quality version for the user’s home PC. Sprint TV gives mobile access to streaming media from major broadcasters like CNN, Fox News, and Cartoon Network.
