Review of Sony Ericsson’s T290a Pre-Paid Phone
Michael Oryl over at Mobile Burn has a review up of the T290a which is an update of the T237 entry-level handset.
It lacks the megapixel camera and high resolution display that some of Sony Ericsson’s high-end phones possess, but it covers the basics well, which makes it a good choice for somebody’s first phone, or as an upgrade for an older phone that lacks a color display - without taking a major hit in your wallet.
The Sony Ericsson T290a is a good, solid entry-level handset. It weighs next to nothing, and has a usable color display, a good MMS editor, and fantastic battery life. Sure the keypad is a bit rubbery feeling, and the call audio quality is only average, but the overall package makes it a great starter phone for somebody looking for a pre-paid GSM calling plan.
In the end the phone still gets a recommended rating despite a slow UI and a rubbery feel.
