Samsung, Bang and Olufsen Announce the Serene Designer Handset
Mobile Burn has a showing of the new Serene Designer Handset. It looks different. My first though was that it looked like one of those timers for lights, or a pill holder or something, but it is infact a cell phone.
Related Posts:Everyone knew that when Samsung and Bang and Olufsen announced a partnership to produce a new mobile handset, something very different was bound to emerge. Not to disappoint, the two companies have announced the first fruit of their labor, the Serene. The Serene has turned mobile handset design on its head, quite literally.
The Samsung/Bang and Olufsen Serene is a folder style handset, but in opposition of other devices on the market, the Serene has the display on the bottom half of the fold, with the keypad on top. This isn’t just any old keypad either, it has a circular design complete with a mechanical scroll wheel in the center. The usability of this upside-down layout has yet to be proven, though the the Serene’s display can also be flipped to allow use of the handset in the traditional way of screen on top, keypad on bottom.
