Sony Ericsson Launch P990 Smartphone

Sony Ericsson P990Expect to see some new Sony Ericssons in the first quarter of 2006. We will be seeing multiple versions of the P990 Smartphones, and Pocket-lint has the news.

Sony Ericsson has announced today the launch of its next generation smartphone, the P990. The new model will be 3G and Wi-Fi enabled, have a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and feature a new hardware keyboard beneath the flip-down keypad.

The P990 is the next in a line of successful Sony Ericsson smartphones - the P800, P900 and P910 – and is based on the same concept and recognisable form factor.

The P990 will be the first commercially available smartphone to adopt the enhanced Symbian OS version 9.1 and UIQ 3 software platform and because of this Sony Ericsson want to give developers plenty of time before the phone launches early next year.

  1. Hmmm… it seems we have been hearing alot of things about the p990 ‘Hermione’. How do we know it will be out the first quarter of 2006? It was said to be launched in october 2005 and release dates seem to range from first quarter of 2006 to late 2007!

I would love to get my hands on this phone, but both price and SE’s very flunctuating release dates are creating a barrier. So i guess it’s back to Nokia…
